The most common type of SAD is called winter-onset depression. Symptoms usually begin in late fall or early winter and go away by summer. A much less common type of SAD, known as summer-onset depression, usually begins in the late spring or early summer and goes away by winter. SAD may be related to changes in the amount of daylight during different times of the year.

Common symptoms of winter-onset SAD include the following:

A change in appetite, especially a craving for sweet or starchy foods

Weight gain

A drop in energy level

Fatigue

A tendency to oversleep

Difficulty concentrating

Irritability and anxiety

Increased sensitivity to social rejection

Avoidance of social situations and a loss of interest in the activities you used to enjoy

Symptoms of summer-onset SAD include:

A loss of appetite

Weight loss

Insomnia

Irritability and anxiety

Agitation

Increased sex drive

Is there a treatment for SAD?

Between 4% and 6% of people in the United States suffer from SAD. Another 10% to 20% may experience a mild form of winter-onset SAD. SAD is more common in women than in men. Although some children and teenagers get SAD, it usually doesn’t start in people younger than 20 years of age. For adults, the risk of SAD decreases as they get older. Winter-onset SAD is more common in northern regions, where the winter season is typically longer and more harsh.

The Sun Touch bathes you in Sky Effect light while simultaneously releasing healthy negative ions. View larger. NatureBright captures nature’s healing rays in an attractive and compact home lighting kit. Light and ions combine to lift your mood, stabilize your internal rhythms, and invigorate your body systems. Thirty minutes a day can bring about a marked change in your spirits, sleep cycles, and concentration, and can alleviate the nagging symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). In some cases, it is even possible to reduce the effects of painful and prolonged menstrual cycles, all without drugs or negative side effects.

Scientific researchers have discovered a new light receptor in the eye’s retina that interprets signals from light rays, and sends the information to sections of our brain that stimulate hormone secretion and body rhythms.

The Sun Touch Plus’ Sky Effect lamps emit the optimal blue light that best stimulates these receptors, which send signals to neurological receptors, energizing important centers in the body. While this light appears normal to human eyes, its special frequency tackles winter SAD, sleep problems, low moods, and even jet lag.

The Sun Touch Plus couples light therapy with negative ion therapy. Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, electron-sized particles found in refreshing environments like on beaches and around waterfalls. Clinical studies show that high-density ion therapy provides an automatic antidepressant effect within a few days of use.

Acid reflux is a disease that causes acid in the stomach to flow back into the food pipe of our body. The acid causes irritation in the food pipe. The most common of acid reflux symptoms is heartburn.

What is Acid Reflux?

Acid reflux is a disease that causes acid in the stomach to flow back into the food pipe of our body. The acid causes irritation in the food pipe. The common symptoms of acid reflux are chest pain, sore throat, difficulty in swallowing and soar taste in mouth. There are many factors that can aggravate the acid reflux. These factors include irregular eating habits, consuming very large meals. The diet must not include fatty and spicy foods which can increase the chance of aggravating the condition.

( Digestive Science Reflux Elimination System brings comfort to patients with heart burn and acid reflux in a fast, effective and convenient package. )

Acid Reflux Disease – The Truth About Heartburn

It is the coincidence of two medical conditions that causes acid reflux disease, or GERD – gastro-esophageal reflux disease, as it is known. The backward flow of food and acid from the stomach to the esophagus is the first condition contributing to acid reflux disease. Nonetheless, the reflux can happen in healthy individuals as well, when it is referred to as "physiologic gastroesophageal reflux" and does not always result in symptoms of acid reflux disease or changes in the organic tissues.

The second factor encouraging acid reflux is a malfunction of the LES, the lower esophageal sphincter. The LES is a circle of muscle acting as a valve between the esophagus and the stomach, measuring 3-4 cm, some two to three times thicker than the proximal esophagus. In cases of acid reflux disease, the stomach contents is pushed back into the esophagus because the LES does not shut properly. This is then called acid reflux disease, when symptoms of the disease then follow.

Heartburn is the burning feeling in the chest or the throat, when the stomach contents is pushed back to the lining of the esophagus. The usual sensation of acid reflux disease is persistent (every 3 days or more) heartburn. Occasional heartburn is common as well and does not necessarily mean acid reflux disease, as light reflux can also affect individuals in good health.

Acid Reflux Diet

Foods to avoid with acid reflux include: Coffee, Alcohol, Fried and Fatty foods, Spicy food, Carbonated Beverages, Citrus Fruits, Drinking Milk, Meat.

For your acid reflux diet, you need to include foods which are safe for both your esophagus and stomach. Fruits like apple and banana and vegetables like broccoli, peas, carrots, baked potatoes, green beans, and cabbages will not trigger acid reflux. It is also safe to consume extra-lean ground beef, skinless chicken breast, egg whites, and fish. Dairy products such as feta or goat cheese, fat-free cream cheese, sour cream, and soy cheese are safe to consume as well. Mineral water is the safest beverage for people with GERD.

Regular Exercise

It is always better to know the foods to avoid with acid reflux. Regular exercise will help you lose weight and maintain a healthier life. There a few things to be kept in mind to get rid of acid reflux.

Do not overeat.

Focus on having smaller meals that helps in digestion very quickly.

Never lie down immediately after having meals.

How to Cure Acid Reflux

It is always good to consult a doctor before starting with a new diet plan. Always keep track of what you eat. If you have already experienced the disease try to avoid those food items as much as possible. Mostly people go for natural cures which is cheap and best. Try to understand what causes acid reflux. Cure is always secondary when compared to prevention.

Reflux Elimination System by Digestive Science® can be a healthy addition to a series of lifestyle changes geared toward eliminating your acid reflux.

Body Back Buddy Reviews

“There is only one thing that I wish this tool would be and that is more travel friendly. It is a bit odd shaped and difficult to fit into a small to medium-sized gym bag and back pack. Otherwise I’d take it with me everywhere. It is very effective at getting rid of all the aches and pains developed after sleeping in a bad position, working long hours, sitting at a computer for too long, traveling, and over-exertion. I must have saved several hundred dollars in massage therapy and pain killer medication costs in the past year and a half that I’ve owned this.”

“That was my question to friends who have this crazy-looking self-massage tool. After 10 minutes, I was "hooked". The best thing is that you can relax–as one should when trying to reduce pain–and even laugh while you tie yourself in a pretzel exploring the impact of each knob on each pain spot. And it’s incredibly versatile. Neck pain? Got it! Cramp in the arch of your foot? Fixed. Muscle knot that you can’t reach yourself? No worries. Besides, even if it doesn’t work, what a great conversation starter on a cold rainy night in the Pacific Northwest: "Top 10 ways to use the Buddy Massage Cane that aren’t found in the directions."”

About Thera Cane Massager

Ease your aches and pains without hiring a professional masseuse with the TheraCane massager. The simple yet effective self-massager makes it easy to apply pain-relieving deep compression directly to hard, knotted trigger points anywhere they occur, breaking up tension even in the hardest-to-reach muscle areas. The TheraCane works by adding pressure to the muscles, which helps maximize the flow of oxygenated blood. This pressure aids in restoring muscle function by breaking up adhesions in muscle fibers and tensions, thus making the muscle work more efficiently. It’s the perfect tonic for a recurring injury, a long day on the job, or an active afternoon in the garden. The TheraCane, which comes in hunter green, measures 24 by 15 by 1 inches (W x H x D), weighs 2 pounds, and carries a two-year limited warranty.

Thera Cane Massager Product Features

Ideal after long work days or strenuous activities

Cane-shaped massager for easing aches and pains

Applies pressure to sore muscles and trigger points

Two strategically placed projections and 6 treatment balls

Includes 14-page customer user manual

Measures 24 x 15 x 1 inches (W x H x D); two-year warranty

Thera Cane Massager Reviews

“I’ve had episodes of upper back pain for years and tried many things including pain killers, heat, ice, massage, stretching, but they only offered temporary relief at best. The pain would last for days on end. Theracane helped me apply stong, precise pressure on the tender points — something that is almost impossible to do otherwise. It helped relieve and shorten the duration of the pain. If you have similar pain due to myofascial trigger points, Theracane might help you too.”

“Buy this odd-looking, yet extremely handy device if you have a hard-to-reach spot that needs constant attention. Especially useful for the back or if you need to apply a good amount of pressure on spots such as the bottom of the foot. Things I like best about it include:
-it’s lightweight
-handles positioned so you can keep pressure on a spot while rubbing
-is in the shape of a "hook" so virtually no spot is out of reach
Intended for those who need to regularly massage out tense areas in the muscles, it’s a very useful tool- and cheaper than therapy! “

What is the best sports bra for women? Where to buy a good sports bra? How to buy a sports bra? You can view this article fully if you have these questions.

3 tips to find your fit before buy a sports bra:

Band: Should be slightly more snug than a lingerie bra. Make sure you can comfortably take a deep breath with the bra fastened on the middle hook. Be sure the band doesn’t ride up in the back. If it does, the band may be too loose and/or the straps need to be adjusted.

Cups: Adjust your breasts for a proper fit. They should be completely held within the cups without overflowing. Fabric should be smooth. Wrinkles or puckers indicate the cup is too big. Underwire should sit on your ribcage below the breast tissue and follow your natural shape.

Straps: Should offer minimal stretch to reduce up-and-down breast movement. Wider straps will disperse the weight and feel more comfortable. Straps should not dig in or slide off your shoulders. Adjustable straps offer a more custom fit.

Moving Comfort Sports Bra is good for your breast:

Two female runners founded Moving Comfort in 1977 before there were women’s workout clothes. In the 30-plus years since the founding, the company hasn’t strayed from its original purpose. Moving Comfort uses high-quality, performance fabrics that have the right amount of stretch, perfect quick-wicking moisture management, and a healthy amount of comfort–cut exactly for a woman’s body.

Moving Comfort follows the following guidelines in constructing high-performance athletic wear for women:

Moving means moving: The how doesn’t matter–running, walking, weight training, yoga, martial arts, skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing, horseback riding, golf, tennis, basketball, volleyball, soccer, inline skating…Moving Comfort naturally understands and designs clothes for a woman’s body, whatever that body was meant to do.

Quality comes first: Moving Comfort understands the kind of support and freedom needed in clothing, and how that clothing should feel against the skin. The company knows what keeps women warm and dry when it’s cold and cool and dry when it’s hot. Knowledge, expertise and high standards shape the fit, fabric and function of every garment Moving Comfort designs.

Fit affects everything: Keeping fit improves every aspect of a woman’s life–reducing the incidence of heart disease, breast cancer, osteoporosis, depression, and drug and alcohol abuse. If a girl or woman is more comfortable when she’s working out, she’s more likely to keep at it.

“I have very long and dry hair. I use this product before i blow dry my hair(sometimes as a scalp or leave-in treatment), and it makes ALL the difference. A little goes a long way. My hair is moveable, shiny, and beautiful!”

What is Moroccanoil?

Moroccanoil is an ultra-light formula which is absorbed by the hair instantly, resulting in a natural, silky finish and brilliant shine. Moroccanoil has the ability to restore over-processed hair damaged by environmental factors and chemical procedures – it also revives, hydrates and detangles hair, wigs and hair extensions. Shop on Amazon by free shipping

Moroccanoil Ingredients

The quantity of Moroccan Oil needed depends on the texture and volume of the hair: Highlighted hair will need more rather than less Moroccanoil. Virgin or untreated hair needs the least amount of Moroccanoil- perhaps a dime shaped amount rubbed into the palms and then through the hair.

More Moroccanoil Reviews

“If you have curly hair and straighten all the time, then this product is for you. It will keep her hair frizz free in any weather!! Also keep breakage at bay; until your next hair cut. AMAZING, and work the price!”

“I have very fine yet curly hair. Moracconoil is a must have product in my styling routine for years now. It helps straighten out my curl, makes my hair look healthier and when the humidity comes around it helps to keep the frizzies away. I highly suggest that every woman have this in their regimen. And a little goes a long way so don’t overdo it!”

“This product is pure magic, if I could I would give it 10 stars! You see, I tend to dye my hair a lot, and after a year or so of abusing my hair, it was as damaged as hair can get without falling apart completely. So I went to my trusted hair stylist, who is a true genius when it comes to hair, and she recommended this treatment. The price tag made me flinch, but then my hairstylist gave me a trial run. She showed me how to apply this after towel-drying my hair, a very small amount concentrating on my most damaged areas, and to apply heat with my hair dryer to help absorb it in. The result was such a huge difference. Unlike most other leave in products, this one doesn’t leave your hair feeling greasy (like that citrus stuff, yuck) or anything. After using this after every shower, my hair has transformed from something that was such a pain, I put it in a ponytail everyday to avoid having to deal with it, to the softest hair imaginable, that I want to wear down everyday. Seriously, my friends who have seen what I have done to may hair could not believe how soft it was!! If you are looking for a cure for damaged or otherwise distressed hair, I give this my highest recommendation.”

“This is an amazing product. First of all, it builds body in my (and my husband’s) hair by holding the moisture in our hair. Secondly, it smells fabulous! Thirdly, our hair has a wonderful shine to it now. And, lastly, but not least, my husband has not had problems with dandruff since using the Moroccan Oil. Enclosed with the Moriccan Oil was a pump, which measures out the correct amount of oil per use. That was a special surprise!”

Many women find talking about some of these menopausal symptoms difficult, and suffer in silence.

When your ovaries stop producing the hormone oestrogen at the end of your reproductive years (usually around the age of 50), you enter the menopause, or ‘the change’. Strictly speaking, the menopause is the date of your last period, but most people use the term to refer to the time around your last period, which may last for a few years.

The drop in hormone levels can cause a host of symptoms, both psychological and physical, and so many women find that the menopause isn’t the easiest time in their lives, which hardly seems fair: after coping with monthly periods and perhaps childbirth, even the end of your reproductive years may not come easy. Saying that, the situation isn’t all doom and gloom – many women ‘sail’ through the menopause without any major problems.

Here’s a list of some common menopausal symptoms:

A burning sensation and itching in your genital area.

Changes to your skin.

Changes to your periods, which eventually stop altogether.

Dryness and persistent discomfort in your vagina.

General irritation, anxiety, forgetfulness and symptoms of depression.

Hot flushes and night sweats.

Loss of libido.

Migraines.

Pain during sexual intercourse because of lack of lubrication.

Many women find talking about some of these menopausal symptoms difficult, and suffer in silence. If you suffer from any such menopausal symptoms, you feel you’re entering the menopause early (called premature menopause) or you have any other concerns, do see your GP because various treatments are available that can improve or get rid of your symptoms. Options include topical hormone preparations and oral hormone replacement therapy (HRT). You may need continued treatment for quite a while for it to be effective.

Breast cancer is a common cancer in women. you need more understand symptoms of breast cancer, which means that you know how your breasts normally feel. Most breast lumps aren’t due to breast cancer, but do get any new and persistent lump checked by your GP. Remember that you can also get breast cancer if you’re a man. Breast cancer in men is very rare (about 100 times rarer than in women), but if you notice a lump, see your GP. Saying that, breast lumps behind the nipple area are common in teenage boys and are due to hormonal reasons. These settle by themselves and are completely harmless.

Breast cancer – where a cancer is confined to the breast or the surrounding areas such as the lymph nodes under the arms – is the most common cancer affecting women. The problem with breast cancer – as indeed with many other cancers – is that it can spread to other areas of your body (known as invasive breast cancer). Various forms of breast cancer exist – some more serious than others – and it can have many causes, including gene abnormalities and raised hormone levels in the blood. You’re at an increased risk of developing breast cancer the older you get, or if close relatives of yours suffer from breast cancer.

Women over the age of 50 in the US are offered regular X-ray checks (called a mammography) to try and detect cancer early on. Women under 50 aren’t currently offered a mammography – cancer in younger women is rarer and more difficult to detect through mammography because of denser breast tissue before they go through the menopause .

Check your breasts regularly and look out for changes that may possibly signify breast cancer. Understand symptoms of breast cancer :

Breast lump: You notice a lump in your breast that persists after your next period, appears after you go through the menopause or gets bigger with time.

Breast shape or size: You notice any change in the size or shape of one of your breasts.

Nipples: You notice any change in the shape of your nipples, you get any unusual discharge from your nipples (particularly if this contains blood) or you develop any skin changes on or around your nipples (or other breast areas) that don’t disappear by themselves and worry you.

A change in the shape or size of your breast.

A lump or thickened tissue in one of your breasts (changes that happen at the same time in both breasts are unlikely to be due to cancer), particularly when the lump persists after you have your period.

A change in the skin of your breast, such as dimpling.

A blood-stained discharge from one of your nipples.

A new rash on your nipple or the skin around it.

A new swelling or lump in your armpit (particularly if this lump is not tender – benign skin infections can sometimes cause tender lumps).

These symptoms and signs don’t necessarily mean that you have cancer, but do indicate that you need to see your GP straight away.

Many men believe that they can’t develop breast cancer. In fact, they can – although breast cancer in men is about 100 times less common than in women. So if you’re a man and develop a new lump or other change in your breast tissue, go to see your GP to get it checked out.

If you’re a teenage boy and develop a – sometimes tender – swelling behind your nipple area, you most likely have little to worry about. This swelling is usually due to hormonal changes in puberty and goes over time.

Reassuringly, 9 out of 10 breast lumps are benign, which means they aren’t due to cancer. However, any new lump in your breast raises the possibility of breast cancer, and so consulting your GP is always a good idea . Correctly understand symptoms of breast cancer is very important. Do not take wild guesses lead to mental stress cause physical discomfort.

High blood pressure medications have different characteristics and features — some may be beneficial, but others may be detrimental to you. Be sure you find out about a medication’s main features before you chase a new pill down with a glass of water.

How effective is it?

Doctors like to have proof in the form of medical studies that the drugs are effective and work as advertised. But this process takes ten years or more after a drug has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and comes onto the market, and many of the drugs in this chapter have been around for only a few years. Drug manufacturers often claim that a new drug in the same class as a proven old drug should work the same. However, the new drug may produce side effects that only become apparent after years of use on thousands of people. So you always have to be wary.

How much can it lower blood pressure as compared to another drug?

Up to a certain point, the lower the blood pressure, the better off the patient. However, several studies have shown that when the blood pressure goes below a certain level (which is not the same for each person), the risk of a heart attack increases (possibly because the pressure is so low that not enough blood is reaching the heart muscle). None of the commonly used drugs, when used alone, lower the blood pressure past that point. But of the various classes, thiazide diuretics lower the systolic blood pressure more than the others. (It lowers the diastolic blood pressure about the same as other drugs.)

Do drugs that lower blood pressure to the same extent have the same effect on disease and death?

Thiazide diuretics lower blood pressure more than the other classes of commonly used drugs.

It’s natural to assume that a blood-pressure-lowering drug prevents the longterm consequences of high blood pressure, but this isn’t necessarily the case. Nevertheless, the old standards, especially the thiazide diuretics, have proven effective against long-term consequences.

In fact, the evidence shows that even when a drug other than a thiazide diuretic lowers the blood pressure to the same extent, thiazides prevent disease and death more than other blood-pressure-lowering drugs. If you’ve concluded that I have a definite preference for thiazide diuretics as initial drug treatment for high blood pressure, you’re right.
