What is Gefitinib?

Gefitinib is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of lung cancer. This medication is often used in cases when other types of chemotherapy did not work on the patient. The chemotherapy drug operates by obstructing the enzyme tyrosine kenase, which might assist in the spreading and growth of the lung cancer. As with any medication, possible side effects can occur due to taking Gefitinib.

How to do with Gefitinib side effects?

1.Common Side Effects

3.Allergic Reactions
Allergic reactions are also considered to be serious side effects of Gefitinib. In situations of allergic reaction, it is necessary to immediately get medical help. Some signs of allergic reaction to Gefitinib are chest tightness; swelling of the eyelids, tongue, mouth, lips or face; problems breathing; skin rash; and breaking out into hives.

4.Caution
Exercise caution when considering taking Gefinitib. It’s crucial to tell your doctor of your medical history and any present medical conditions you might have, particularly regarding liver disease or any breathing or lung-related issues (apart from lung cancer).

5.Drug Interactions
Drug interactions are possible when more than one medication is taken at the same time. Drug interactions can lead to increased or decreased effectiveness of one or more of the medications involved, as well as unpleasant and sometimes dangerous side effects. Some medicines that can lead to drug interactions with Gefinitib are ketoconazole, warfarin, phenytoin, rifampin, itraconazole, and medications that can lower stomach acid levels (like omeprazole, ranitidine, esomeprazole and lansoprazole).
